Engaging Students Through Social Emotional Learning

IGC 644

Christine Judge

A graduate course on how social and emotional development strengthens student achievement, and how to build SEL into curriculum rather than bolt it on. Student performance improves when social and emotional development is fostered by instructors and institutions.

The course works across disciplines — science, mathematics, language arts, social studies and special education — and moves through the full curriculum development process: developing philosophy and objectives, needs assessment, instructional planning and implementation, and assessment and evaluation. Participants complete curriculum projects demonstrating instructional strategies, learning resources, practical applications and assessment methods.

Taught by a Massachusetts educator. Three graduate credits awarded through Gordon College, a DESE-approved provider.
