This course is designed for educators in grades 4–8 who work with students who are struggling to read at grade level. Grounded in the Science of Reading and the Massachusetts Dyslexia Guidelines, participants develop targeted intervention strategies for older struggling readers — including students with dyslexia, multilingual learners, and students with IEPs.

Apply Science of Reading principles to intervention planning for older struggling readers, including students with dyslexia and multilingual learners.
Design structured literacy interventions for grades 4–8 that address phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension simultaneously.
Use progress monitoring data to adjust intervention intensity and document student growth aligned to the Massachusetts Dyslexia Guidelines.
Integrate literacy support into content-area instruction without replacing or reducing access to grade-level curriculum.
Collaborate with special educators, ELL specialists, and families to coordinate support for struggling readers.
