The Intentional Educator: Designing Blended & Online Learning with Purpose

This course equips Massachusetts educators with the instructional design principles, technical skills, and pedagogical frameworks needed to design and facilitate high-quality blended and online learning experiences. Drawing on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Community of Inquiry theory, participants design a complete blended or online unit.

  1. Apply Universal Design for Learning principles to blended and online course design to ensure accessibility and equity for all learners.
  2. Select and sequence synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences using the Community of Inquiry framework.
  3. Design effective online discussion protocols, feedback systems, and assessment strategies that build community and maintain rigor in digital environments.
  4. Evaluate blended and online learning platforms for accessibility, equity, and alignment to instructional goals.
  5. Develop a complete blended or online instructional unit aligned to Massachusetts curriculum frameworks.
